The IDOL MV YouTube Freeze, What Happened To Our Views? | Bangtan Daily

BTS Music Video: IDOL |
After the 24-hour mark of the release of BTS’s IDOL music video, ARMYs have noticed that Youtube froze the views at 61K. Now, freezing views is normal procedure for YouTube to verify streams and remove bot-like behaviour; HOWEVER, it is very strange for a music video to have their views frozen without any explanation.
Many ARMYs have taken it upon ourselves to contact YouTube regarding the views but were ignored, leading to #YOUTUBEUnfreezeIDOL trending at #6 worldwide. The only response from YouTube was from this forum, telling ARMYs to “inform BTS to stop encouraging us to spam the YouTube official website”.
For about 13 hours, the number of views did not change despite our efforts, which affected our youtube trends in several countries. When YouTube finally unfroze the views, only 300K were added to the overall total, which excluded the huge number of streams that were accumulated during the 13 hour freeze period.
According to socialblade.com, IDOL supposedly gained an additional 31K views on Day 2 which was not accounted for. Now, ARMY, I know this is upsetting but we can vent our frustrations on other streaming platforms that WILL help BTS on the charts, like Spotify, Tidal, and Apple Music--and you can also stream the music video on Tidal and Apple Music (which will count towards the Hot100 chart).
If it makes you feel better, Although YouTube may help to expose BTS to the General Public, it’s worth very little for the Hot100 chart. Alright?
Let’s continue to work hard ARMY but let’s put our efforts to good use!
