BTS at MBC Plus x Genie Awards

Bangtan Sonyeondan returns to Korean Award shows and it is such an amazing sight to see. After touring all over the US and Europe, the boys return to Korea to rest, prepare for the Asian leg of the Love Yourself Tour and of course, to fill up their bags from end of the year award shows.
MBC x Genie Awards the newly established music award show in South Korea had their premiere this evening. BTS has been announced to perform their title tracks along with a special stage with Charlie Puth.
The first award of the night went to BTS for Best Male Dance Performance. They also won Best Choreography for 'IDOL' with their Performance Director, Son Seungduk. Shortly afterwards the long awaited collab stage between BTS and Charlie Puth began.

Charlie Puth crooned the hook of his song, 'We Don't Talk Anymore.' Then the screen switches during the first verse giving us a look at Jungkook who sings it smoothly next to a TV showing Charlie Puth, which symbolizes that he used to only see Puth on TV. Afterwards, he stands up and proceeds to the stage to join Puth; this symbolizes that he has now fulfilled his dream of sharing a stage with him. The two finish the song beautifully and emotionally. Just by looking at Jungkook's eyes you can tell that this is truly one of his dreams come true.
If you're a regular on Twitter, you probably already knew that the next song to be performed is 'Fake Love.' However, we never quite saw it coming like this.

Puth starts the song on his piano, softly playing the intro of BTS's 'Fake Love.' There seems to be a heavy silence on stage until RM comes in powerfully with his verse, standing on a moving platform. J-Hope and then Suga coming in right after the other. Each one of the boys get a chance to shine as they sang their parts in 'Fake Love.' Although everyone was on the edge of their seat in breathless anticipation waiting for the next verse, the performance ended all too soon. I know, it was too short for me too.
After the mesmerizing acoustic performance of 'Fake Love,' BTS continued to fill their bags left and right winning the Genie Popularity Award, Best Male Group, and Best Producer for Bang Si Hyuk.
Towards the end of the show, our boys gave a spectacular performance of 'Save Me'/'I'm Fine' and 'IDOL,' complete with 100+ back up dancers. Only the best entourage for our kings!
Then the moment we have all been waiting for, the awarding of the Grand Prize Awards or Daesang. There were 4 in total for the night: Best Selling Artist of the Year, Best Song of the Year, Album of the Year and Digital Artist of the Year. Twice and Wanna One claimed the first two and for a while ARMYs were let down until they announced the winner for Album of the Year... and Digital Artist of the Year.
Yes, you heard that right, BTS won 2 Daesangs or Grand Prize Awards in the first ever MBCxGenie Music Awards!

Let's continue to help BTS soar, ARMY. If we get to see those shining eyes and bright smiles every time they win an award, all the hard work and stress will have been worth it.
Congratulations again to Mr. Son, Mr. Bang, and of course to our boys, BTS! We purple you!
